Aequitas

Terms of Service
← Return to app
Aequitas is currently in evaluation. These terms describe the conditions of use during evaluation and will be revised by counsel before any general release.

Effective date: May 2026

1. Acceptance

By signing in to and using Aequitas, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the application.

2. Permitted use

Aequitas is licensed for use by Maryland family-law professionals and their support staff in connection with matters before Maryland courts. It is offered as an analytical aid. You may use it to prepare draft worksheets, financial statements, memoranda, and supporting analyses for your own matters. You may not resell, rent, sublicense, or share access credentials.

3. Not legal advice; no attorney–client relationship

Aequitas is software. It does not provide legal advice and using it does not create an attorney–client relationship between you and the provider of Aequitas. The calculations and AI-generated text are computational and probabilistic outputs respectively, not legal opinions. Counsel is solely responsible for independently verifying every figure, every citation, and every recommendation before relying on it in communication with a client, opposing counsel, or a court.

4. AI-assisted output

Aequitas integrates a third-party large-language model to draft narratives, briefs, what-if scenarios, and document extractions. These outputs are drafts only. They may contain errors of fact, errors of law, hallucinated citations, and arithmetic mistakes. Counsel must review and revise every AI-generated draft before any further use. Aequitas displays all AI suggestions for opt-in acceptance and logs every applied change in the audit trail for this reason.

5. Statutory accuracy

The child-support schedule and calculation logic implemented in Aequitas reflect Md. Code, Family Law § 12-204 as of October 2025 (with HB 275 incorporated). Maryland family law is regularly amended. Counsel is responsible for verifying that the version of the schedule used in the calculation is current at the time of filing.

6. No warranty

Aequitas is provided "as is," without any express or implied warranty, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The provider does not warrant that computations are error-free, that the service will be uninterrupted, or that AI-generated drafts will be accurate.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the provider of Aequitas is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the application, including without limitation damages arising from reliance on a calculation or AI-generated draft. Counsel bears full responsibility for output relied upon.

8. Modification and termination

The provider may modify these terms, change features, or suspend access at any time during the evaluation period. Continued use after a material change constitutes acceptance.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of these terms or use of Aequitas shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Maryland.
